My Book of Days-365 (ish) project : I am passionate about photography (just ask my two boys who, at 4 and 2 are SICK of me taking their picture! ) I want to learn learn learn as well as take the time to document our lives together as a family. My philosophy is that: life is happening NOW--there are no dress rehearsals. I want to get more involved in the photo/SmugMug community so I thought this may be a good place to get my shy self "out there"--by starting a 365 book of days project. I am learning CS3 and Lightroom 2.0 but have no official editing training other than my trusty e books/tutorials and lots of hours logged onto my laptop while the kids are sleeping. Here goes--my official "Photo Journal". In it I will publish self portraits -in hopes of learning to be more comfortable with the camera myself (see my Blog for more info on that) as well as pictures that I hope for feedback on to improve or learn from. After thinking about it--I don't think I can stand to look at myself in photos for a whole year--yuk! IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE: that I do this project for myself and my family--so some days there will be more than one photo if I feel so inclined. I don't want this project to become cumbersome...but I want to use it to document a year in our lives as well as to learn as much as I can from taking various pictures. 365-ish : 365 self portraits. Can I actually do it? Inspired by many others, I decided to give my creativity a kick in the pants with a Daily Photo project. With life happening too fast, quite often I lose the spark that drives me to pick up the camera. Hopefully I can maintain not only this project, but the ability to develop more as a photographer. Ideally, the majority of these will be self-portraits to help me get over my image complex and to document the most important, memorable moments of each day. My rules: 1. At least part of myself in each shot. Every 24 hours. 2. EXIF data pulls rank. I travel and can't always upload on a timely matter, but the timestamp is as the timestamp does... 3. Try to document the dominant activity/event of the day. This is a journal-type project for me, too. 4. Having help is OK. While I always set up the shot myself, occasionally the location requires having someone else hit the shutter for me.

Today : October 08 - Hopefully i'm back to posting a photo almost every day. As some will know I have moved from my beloved Lincoln to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, some 125 miles away. Hopefully I can show off some of the delights of Bury to you all and show some of the things I am getting up to in my new job. As always, please leave feedback, good or bad as I am only a novice and very much appreciate all comments.
